Are You Greener Than A 5th Grader?

A Surprising Role Reversal As Parents Turn Into Students When Their Environmentally Conscious Children Teach Them How To Go Green

The green gene isn’t always passed down through generations.  Nowadays, the so called eco kids are re-educating their parents on ways to curb harmful effects on the environment!  With school budgets being slashed and administrators spending less for expensive environmental programs, students are beginning to take a much more active role in going green.

Now, as they return to school from winter break, they can also strut their stuff as a nationwide campaign to find “America’s Greenest School” kicks off on Jan. 18.  Students are encouraged to enter an essay, video or song describing why their school should win the coveted title.  Finalists will be announced at the end of March and America will be able to vote for its favorite at AmericasGreenestSchool.com.  The top vote-getter will receive a hybrid school bus for their school, a $3,000 scholarship and $20,000 for the school to continue to make green improvements.

Contest Spokesperson, Olympic Gold Medalist & Mom, Summer Sanders explains how students nationwide are going green and teaching their parents.  She offers new unique suggestions for everyone to make eco-conscious choices, and outline details about the contest – which is open to all students in America.
